Borrell Jover is an architectural practice established in Barcelona in 2015, triggered by a second generational change, following the incorporation of Maria Borrell in 2006 and Jorge Jover in 2008.

I. Overview

Our desire is to use architecture as a means to respond to specific issues, to bring us closer to the community and to satisfy the requirements of our clients, identifying their needs and expectations, and taking on board their suggestions and expectations.

We carry out our work combining work of different types and scale, which allows us to work on work that follow different construction processes and methodologies, enriching the practice’s culture.

Aware that our staff are the firm’s most important asset we aim to have a highly-motivated and competent team, conscious of the practice’s philosophy, vision and policy. Therefore, we invest in further training, encouraging our staff to make proposals for the on-going improvement of the practice.

II. Sustainability

Through the understanding and analysis of key legal and environmental aspects that apply to our projects, we adopt the most suitable measures to minimize any environmental pollution that our buildings may generate. We believe in the importance of design as a process to ensure that the uses of our buildings are flexible;

we focus on sustainability in construction, adjusting our designs to the most innovative and environmentally friendly criteria, aware of the lifecycle of buildings and infrastructure design, as well as the environmental impacts that may be generated during all their phases. We find solutions supported by new technology without overlooking the value of craftsmanship and local expertise.

In 1935, after training as an architect at Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB), Agustín Borrell Sensat (Barcelona, 1910-1970) began his professional career in Barcelona. He designed several projects, such as the Bar Association building in Barcelona (1950), Banco Rural y Mediterráneo (1953), Hotel Manila (1953), Radio Liberty (Pals, 1958), as well as several educational facilities and industrial buildings.
