Refurbishment of Hotel Alberta Barcelona

Refurbishment of Hotel Alberta. 2012

The new Hotel Alberta is located in an existing building also conceived as a hotel. The refurbishment of this edifice has been part of a phased programme, which started in 2012.

The project is based on the refurbishment of common areas and bedrooms. The hotel’s staff offices located on the ground floor have been eliminated to achieve larger living spaces, as the previous hotel had none. It is proposed to increase the scale of the entrance hall in accordance with the number of guests expected. A key decision for this space is to isolate the reception area, thus controlling access to the hotel and sales in the small souvenirs shop from the working station itself. Carpet has been laid in the entrance and parquet and pine wood furniture has been used for the shop/cafeteria area.
