Nine Apartments in Sant Martí. 2018-ongoing
Barcelona
It is a GF+5 compact and slender building that retains the original façade of the existing building. The elevations of the adjacent buildings and the rest of the block vary in height. The internal courtyard of the block has been fully cleared, demolishing an existing structure, in order to create a high quality external space (garden), using the ground floor. There are neither basement nor parking spaces.
The rectangular plan has a developable depth of 25.80m and a span of 6m. A light well in the centre of the building has been conceived to provide ventilation/daylight to bedrooms and kitchens; it will articulate all the floors from the ground up to the top floor. There is a vertical communication core with a lift and a one-metre width two-section protected staircase serving all the floors. Access to properties along the internal courtyard is from an open walkway by the light well.
There is a total of nine properties arranged as follows: one duplex unit on the ground floor, two typical units (levels 1, 2 and 3) and two duplex on levels 4 and 5. The existing elevations will be retained on the ground, first and second floors, corresponding to the façade of Independència Street
