Renovation of the Antiga Casa Figueres

I. Description

The corner building was built around 1820, reflecting the neoclassical academicism of the period. Its façade follows a clear hierarchy in the size of the openings and balcony slabs, which gradually decrease with the height of each floor.

At the ground floor corner, the shopfront of the “Antiga Casa Figueres” is preserved — a remarkable example of Catalan Art Nouveau design that features sculptural reliefs, intricate mosaics, stained glass, and wrought iron details.

II. Architectural Heritage

The ongoing restoration aims not only to preserve the building’s material integrity but also to reveal and celebrate the elements that define its architectural essence. Through a process of careful observation and minimal intervention, the project seeks to bring new life to what time has made valuable, establishing a dialogue between the memory of the place and its contemporary use.
